This year’s Expo, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, couldn’t align more closely with the mission of the Circular Economy Days – hosted by the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP) – and with our daily work at Instytut Innowacji i Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju INNOWO.
As a proud ECESP member within the Polish Pavilion, we had the honour to co-host two thought-provoking sessions:

💡 Highlights from the Economic Incentives session
The discussion confirmed that well-designed incentives can often drive change more effectively – and with greater social acceptance – than rigid regulations. While strict obligations may spark resistance, economic instruments such as tax reforms, subsidies, and innovation grants can encourage both producers and consumers to act willingly.
🔑 Key takeaway: build transformation on trust and motivation – start with carrots before sticks.
🌱 Key insights from the Bioeconomy session
Circularity and bioeconomy are no longer just concepts – they’re practical frameworks for resilience and regeneration.Integrating both approaches – from regenerative farming to bio-based materials – enables systemic responses to climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity.
The session also underlined how Europe–Japan cooperation can help scale circular bioeconomy solutions worldwide 🌏
Nymphe project at Expo 2025 Osaka
At Expo 2025 Osaka, we had the opportunity to highlight the NYMPHE project – of which we are a proud partner – as a shining example of bioeconomy in action. By using innovative microbial solutions for environmental remediation, NYMPHE demonstrates how pollutants can be transformed into valuable resources, supporting a circular and sustainable economy. Bioremediation is not only a cutting-edge biotech solution – it’s a real-world example of how bio-based innovations can shape a resilient, resource-efficient future and accelerate the transition towards a circular, nature-positive economy.
Bioremediation unites the three main pillars of bioeconomy: science, technology, and circular development.
People power change
Beyond the panels, Expo was about people, exchange, and inspiration. It was a pleasure to meet Commissioner Jessika Roswall, whose perspective on circular transformation brought new energy and hope. But most of all – reconnecting with our ECESP colleagues in person made this experience truly special: Ladeja Godina Košir, Cathrine Barth, Freek van Eijk, Maria Nikolopoulou, Alice Senga, Cillian Lohan, Einar Kleppe Holthe, Martin Hagen, Claire Downey, Anders Ladefoged, Bolesław Rok.
Expo 2025 was a vibrant celebration – full of ideas, colour, and people. Sometimes overwhelming, always inspiring – and truly unforgettable.
