We concluded the conference at the Ministry of Development and Technology, where the latest report was presented: "Policy Options for a Circular Economy Transition in Europe" – prepared by the World Bank, AGH University, and INNOWO.
Arno Behrens and Andrea Liverani from the World Bank discussed the report’s key findings and conclusions. Dr. Agnieszka Sznyk, President of the INNOWO Institute, Przemysław Sobański (Ministry of Development and Technology), and Piotr Wołejko (Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs) commented on the report’s implications in the context of implementing the circular economy (CE) in the Polish market.
Following the presentation, we engaged in a discussion with invited experts on the major challenges facing Poland's circular transition, including:
lack of cross-sectoral and interministerial coordination, and the need to overcome “siloed” approaches,
upcoming legislative changes
EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) and the deposit return system for packaging,
insufficient circular economy education at the university level,
green public procurement and the need to revise current criteria.
Przemysław Sobański, Director of the Department of Innovation and Industrial Policy (MoDiT), invited experts to join and actively contribute to the CE Thematic Working Group under the National Smart Specialisation framework (KIS – Circular Economy).
We thank all speakers and guests for their valuable insights and participation, and express our gratitude to the Ministry for hosting the event.
